Q1. Why can't I use long filename?
The original platform for UniPile 4.0 and UniBear 1.0 were developed using the old Microsoft Windows 16-Bit technology and does not offer all the advantages that the latest version of Microsoft Windows has to offer. Because of the limitations imposed by the 16-Bit environment, it is best if the software is installed in a folder composed of names with 8 characters or less. We are currently developing an upgrade to UniPile which promises to resolve this issue.
Q2. Why must I run the software in full administrative mode?
The original platform for UniPile 4.0 and UniBear were developed using the old Microsoft Windows 16-Bit technology and does not offer all the security advantages that the latest version of Microsoft Windows has to offer. During normal execution, the application attempts to write support files into both the main installation folder and the Microsoft Windows system folder. Depending on your system settings, you may be required to run our software in an account with certain administrative privileges. We are currently developing an upgrade to UniPile which promises to resolve this issue.
